Berton IELTS

Berton College offers one of the most successful IELTS programs in Vancouver. Many of its students have received scores of 6.5, 7, 7.5 and occasionally higher and have gone on to enter good universities. Our unique curriculum consists of individualized lessons on the many strategies and skills that contribute to success in the  IELTS. These include grammar training, mastery of the active and passive voice, an increased vocabulary, Listening and Reading Skills, Task 1 and Task 2 Writing Skills, and interview practice.

After an initial placement test and a teacher's evaluation, the students each enter a customized class, with lessons designed for their initial level of English skill. Every lesson integrates many study skill strategies to assist students to improve their general English proficiency as well as their IELTS score.

Inevitably, IELTS is a demanding test of many different English skills, but we at Berton College can help you take the challenge. The result of an IELTS test also builds the foundations for your future, since international students and those whose have not studied in Canada for four consecutive years need a score of at least Band 6.5 to enter almost any Canadian university.

A few students need only to learn some test-specific strategies in order to attain their goals in the IELTS test; their English skills are already proficient. We will certainly accommodate the needs of these advanced students.

However, most students need to work intensively on general English as well as test-taking strategies. These students should expect to follow a course of study that lasts for at least three months, with about ten hours a week in class and at least an hour’s homework per day for vocabulary review and writing assignments. The students must also speak in and listen to English as much as possible to improve these skills for the test. Our IELTS teacher, Bea, has worked on our curriculum for many years, both in China and Canada, and it has helped those students who were ready to work hard to enter the best Canadian universities.
